Chicago Rain... in December

So today I travelled to Chicago. My adventures started last night when I drove my 4runner to Fort Worth, TX. I stayed with Melanie last night, I am very thankful for her! After visiting mardels and walmart i went home and crashed, but the real fun didn't start until this morning. At 3:30 a.m. I awoke with a grumble in my stomach that could only be my nerves. At 5:00 a.m. I woke up, ok it was more like 5:30 and took a shower and got ready to go. Mel Mel and I drove to the airport and she was so kind to take me in, wait for me to check in, go to another terminal and then send me off. Thank you again Mel. By the time I got to my gate they were already boarding the plane.. thank goodness! I walked right on, walked to the very back of the plane and sat next to a sweet lady named Laura. We chatted until our other flying buddy Cailtin came. We had a great conversation for those 2 hours and though we were delayed we still had enough tail wind to make up the difference and we made it in ahead of schedule... praise God! I thanked the pilot for a great flight... and he said, "thanks I fly as though my mother was on board because she hates to fly!" Everyone here was so nice and talkative, I really enjoyed the adventure. ( If you are still reading, I am impressed. ) My dad was as close to the gate as he could get to pick me up and I couldn't have been happier to see him.

We left the airport, went to the office and my fleece was still holding up, but once that wind picked up, I was done for! After work we went to Wendys and boy was I hungry! I hadn't eaten since 5:30 a.m.ish. We then talked with a very cool guy named Nathan at Discount tires... I have never seen treds worn so bad off of a tire. So we got four new tires for the Acura. An hour and a half or so later we finished our Christmas shopping at walmart and Michaels and then headed home.

Two things I want to share with you is:

(1) In the airport I saw a sign and table set up for flu shots and swine flu shots. I think it's hysterical that Graham, TX hospital and medical center can't get flu shots, but our airport in Chicago has them readily available.

(2) Also, it is raining here! How is this possible? I come to visit Chicago and it rains- which is worse than just cold and snow!

After we got home I chatted with the girls, putts around and started on my brothers blanket... you know I always have a project! I tried to learn how to do a new stitch called the afghan stitch.. it didn't work out so well... I think I need Dustin's mom to teach me! I took a slight nap but was up so that we could shovel... oh how I dread shoveling snow, especially when it's raining! We are sitting around the house near the fire place and waiting for Abbey to get home. We will eat and have a great night! I might also get to see my brother Ted!

I hope that everyone has a great night... sorry to hear there are Tornados in Texas!

This is a picture of the outside here... it's beautiful!

This is a picture of the fire we are enjoying inside, it's also beautiful!
